The Center for Strategic Research \u201cKsente Bogoev\u201d was established in 2000 as a scientific organizational unit of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts. It is headed by a full member of MASA. The Center\u2019s Council consists of MASA members from different departments of the Academy, as well as distinguished researchers from the academic community of the Republic of Macedonia. The Center employs one senior scientific adviser, two research associates and one technical secretary. It also has a broad network of permanent associates from the academic community, including state and private universities in the Republic of Macedonia, as well as project-specific associates who are recognized experts in the relevant fields.<\/p>\n
The fact that the Center exists and operates as a scientific organizational unit within MASA gives it particular scholarly weight in terms of independence, impartiality and academic freedom in researching strategic issues of special interest to the Republic of Macedonia. The Center\u2019s principal objectives and tasks are defined as follows:<\/p>\n
The Center maintains extensive international scientific cooperation with several centers in the Republic of T\u00fcrkiye, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (T\u0130KA), the Economic Research Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Sociology of the Romanian Academy, and strategic research centers from Balkan countries that are members of the Balkan Communication Network. The Center has concluded cooperation agreements with the National Center for Development of Innovation and Entrepreneurial Learning, the Center for Economic Analyses, the Institute for Geostrategic Research and Foreign Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and others, and it also cooperates actively with the Macedonian Chambers of Commerce.<\/p>\n
During its existence, the Center has initiated and implemented ten research projects addressing issues of strategic interest to the Republic of Macedonia, organized five international conferences, and held numerous round tables, workshops, presentations and similar events. Its research activities span several scientific fields\u2014economics, law, Euro-Atlantic integration (particularly the harmonization of the legal system of the Republic of Macedonia with European Union law and the evaluation of judicial reforms), higher education and science, history, political science, culture, relations with neighboring countries and with T\u00fcrkiye, demography, and others. Some of the research results have been published in 15 special editions, which are regularly distributed to the relevant government departments and institutions to support policymaking in the respective areas. The Center\u2019s associates present research results at international conferences and publish them in international journals.<\/p>\n
