Research Center for Computer Science and Information Technologies
The Research Center for Computer Science and Information Technologies was established in 2014. As part of the Macedonian Academy, the Center’s role is to initiate and coordinate research in scientific disciplines related to information and communication technologies (ICT), with the aim of improving scientific, social and economic conditions and addressing needs in the Republic of Macedonia and beyond. The Center provides a setting for activities across various scientific disciplines, including the natural, technical, social and medical sciences. Its principal mission is to advance human knowledge through the development and application of computer science and information technologies. Current research at the Center includes projects funded by several programs:
- FP7 and Horizon 2020 (European Union),
- DFG (Germany), ONR and NIH (USA).
The principal research areas include fundamental research in dynamical systems, computational biology and machine learning, as well as applied research in energy and in the analysis of economic and medical data. The Center actively cooperates with numerous scientific institutions in the country and abroad. Such cooperation includes joint research projects, specialization and training of scientific staff, invited lecturers, and exchanges of literature. The Center engages one person in regular employment, six persons temporarily employed through an authors’ agency, and ten volunteers.
