Lexicographic Center “Georgi Stardelov”

The “Georgi Stardelov” Lexicographic Center, a scientific unit of the Academy, was established on September 28, 2000.

The Center prepares and publishes encyclopedic, bibliographic, terminological and other lexicographic editions, and develops a database on Macedonian culture and art.

Numerous projects concerning the discovery, study and systematization of individual areas of Macedonian culture and art have been carried out within the Center. The Center prepared and published the Macedonian Encyclopedia (in 2 volumes), which presents the historical and contemporary entirety of Macedonian civilization.

The Center is working on two long-term research projects of fundamental importance. The first is the preparation of Macedonian Scientific and Professional Terminology, whose ultimate objective is to prepare final lexicographic editions based on the working terminological materials published in the Bulletin Macedonian Terminology, of which 113 issues have been published to date. The second is the work on the macro-project History of the Culture of Macedonia which examines the overall material and spiritual culture on the territory of Macedonia from prehistory to the present day. The research results have so far been published in 23 books.

At the “Georgi Stardelov” Lexicographic Center, in addition to a large number of external associates, one research assistant, one junior research assistant and one technical secretary are permanently engaged.
