Research Center for Environment and Materials
The Research Center for Environment and Materials was established in 2014 and conceived as a focal point for coordinating research activities in Macedonia in the fields of environment and materials. The Center’s principal objective is to support and coordinate the research capacities available in the country and to maximize the use of existing research potential. The Center is developing a database of available research equipment and researchers, organizes scientific events, and provides logistical support for networking and cooperation with national and international sponsors. The Center employs research associates and also includes collaborators from within and outside the Academy, while maintaining an active network of researchers and institutions with which it cooperates.
During the first decade since its establishment, members of the Center participated in numerous fundamental and applied research projects in environment and materials, covering topics in sustainable energy, current environmental issues and biological studies of local relevance to Macedonia. In addition to active research, the Center’s members contribute to the training of young researchers, academic exchanges involving faculty, researchers and students, and the organization of seminars, conferences and lectures.
